About Us

While our guests are here enjoying the wonderful summer, they frequently ask why we live here and what it’s like in the other seasons. That, of course, depends on the season. About mid-August and Tanana Valley Fair time, the temperatures begin to cool both in the daytime and at night and it rains. This is fall and the reminder that our time outside without coats is about over. The flowers are still in bloom and hanging on for the Labor Day yard cleaning. It’s time to do any weather stripping and any other preparation for winter. Winter time is just as enjoyable as summer, just different. This is when we find time to do wood working, reading, knitting, and sewing. The dark evenings are a wonderful time to reconnect with friends after the intense busyness of the summer. After a full day’s work, there’s still time to cook a new recipe and invite a friend over for dinner. Christmas comes during the darkest time and is more beautiful because the lights and colors show up so much more.

Then, when it seems to have been cold about long enough, it’s the middle of February, the indoor plants are starting to grow, and the birds are back to the bird feeder. There may be two months more until the snow is gone, but that gives time for spring cleaning and planning for our summer guests. While you enjoy your breakfast, you might also enjoy watching our tiny guests right outside the window in the bird feeder.
